Membership and Outreach Coordinator
Are you passionate about conservation and community building and excited to use your communication skills to support a successful non-profit organization that relies on its members to further its mission? The Huyck Preserve seeks a creative, positive individual to serve as its next Membership and Outreach Coordinator (MOC). The MOC is the key interface with the membership and the community through communications, coordination of the membership program, event planning, and interactions with the public at our Visitors’ Center. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, be savvy with social media and computer software, be able to take initiative while also being a team player, and be committed to our four-part mission rooted in conservation. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Huyck Preserve. It is a full-time, majority on-site, non-exempt position.
Summer Educator
Come spend the summer with us while inspiring the next generation of conservationists! The Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station seeks a skilled and enthusiastic environmental science educator to teach its summer K-12 education programs. Applicants must have completed or be working towards a BA/BS degree in a science-related field. Supervised by and coordinating with the Executive Director, the Summer Educator will be the lead instructor for elementary and middle school programs and co-teach the Preserve’s high school course. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong interest and/or background in field ecology and environmental or outdoor education. This is a full-time, non-exempt seasonal position lasting approximately seven weeks. On-site shared housing is available.
Buildings and Grounds Assistant
Do you enjoy performing physical work often while spending time outside? The Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station is now accepting applications for a Buildings and Grounds Assistant. This is a full-time, seasonal, approximately twelve-week position. The Buildings and Grounds Assistant will work with the Preserve’s Buildings and Grounds Supervisor on building maintenance, trail projects, lawn mowing, and other related work.
Invasive Species Assistant
The Huyck Preserve is seeking a nature enthusiast interested in rewarding outdoor work to serve as a summer Invasive Species Assistant. This is a part-time, seasonal, eight-week position. The Invasive Species Assistant will work with the Preserve’s Stewardship Coordinator and seasonal staff and be responsible for invasive species removal and monitoring work as part of the continued implementation of the Huyck Preserve’s invasive species management and monitoring plan. The ideal candidates will have some experience with outdoor work and native and invasive plant species identification.
