Volunteer with Stewardship Coordinator Garrett Chisholm to tackle our next invasive species project.​

Please wear long sleeves and pants and sturdy footwear. Bring water and work gloves if you have them. We will provide tools.

Registration is helpful. This event is free to all.

Invasive Species Symposium

Eldridge Research Center, 284 Pond Hill Road, Rensselaerville, NY 12147

Join us to learn about a range of invasive species topics from a panel of experts. Experts will present short talks followed by a panel discussion. The event will end with refreshments and a hike to learn about the native and invasive species of the Huyck Preserve.

Our featured speaker will be George Robinson, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Biological Sciences at the University at Albany and member of the Huyck Preserve Scientific Advisory Board. Other guests include Kristopher Williams (Capital Region PRISM), Caroline Marschner (NYSHI), Jason Denham (DEC), Steve Pearson, Ph.D. (DEC), Jennifer Dean, Ph.D. (NY Natural Heritage Program), Jon Titus, Ph.D. (SUNY Fredonia), Pricilla Titus, and Jessica Cancelliere (DEC).

This is planned to be an inside event. 
We ask that you stay home if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or have recently tested positive.  

This event is open to all. Registration is not required but is helpful to us for planning and event set up.

Thursday Night Lecture Series

Come hear about active research being done at the Preserve first-hand from scientists.

For the first time since 2019 (pre-pandemic), we are bringing back the popular communal potluck on the Research Center’s porch overlooking Lincoln Pond, which will then be followed by a presentation from a researcher about their work. Please bring a dish to share.

Meet at the Boat Launch, Lake Myosotis, Pond Hill Road, Rensselaerville, NY 12147

Come on a guided paddle around Lake Myosotis.
Bring your own boat and lifejacket.

Registration is required; event capped at 15 people
Suggested donation $5; Preserve members and children under 12 free
Inclement weather will cancel this event.
