Huyck Preserve’s local high school students—and their undergraduate student mentors—present for the first time at Northeast Natural History Conference
For the first time, the Huyck Preserve brought students to the annual Northeast Natural History Conference (NENHC) in April to present their summer 2024 research projects. The NENHC is the largest regional gathering of researchers, natural resource managers, graduate and undergraduate students, and naturalists working in the areas of applied field biology and natural history in the northeastern United States and adjacent areas of Canada. Five high school students from the Preserve’s Wildlife Ecology Research program and two undergraduate students from the Preserve’s Odum Internship in Field Ecology shared their work at the conference’s April 5th poster sessions. The student posters included research projects done at the Huyck Preserve on earthworms, beavers, and ferns. To learn more about the experience and the students’ impressive accomplishments, read more here.
