Nature Exploration Program for
​Homeschool Students


There is no better classroom than the outdoors! In our homeschool program, we lead children on a hands-on exploration of the Huyck Preserve's forests, streams, and ponds. This program focuses on building ecological understanding through observation, investigation, and documentation of our discoveries, while encouraging creativity through nature art and play.

Designed for homeschool families, children ages 5-12. 
Caregivers may stay with the class but are not required to stay. Please indicate your plans on the registration form.
 Preschool siblings are also welcome if caregivers attend but must also be registered. 
Location: Eldridge Research Center (284 Pond Hill Road, Rensselaerville, NY 12147) and outside
Dates: 
May 1, May 22, June 12, and June 26
Time: 9:30-11:30am
Cost for entire four class season: $60 per student members,
​$80 per student nonmembers

12 students needed to run the program; class capped at 20 students

Meet the teacher: We are thrilled to welcome Kelly Walker back as the teacher for our Homeschool Education Program. Kelly is an experienced outdoor-based educator and enjoys bringing her training in art and photography and her background in agriculture to her lessons.
