The Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station is now accepting applications for summer 2016 Lifeguards at Lake Myosotis Beach in Rensselaerville, NY. Multiple part-time ten week positions available (June 25 through Sept. 5). Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with Waterfront and current American Red Cross certification in CPR/AED. Lifeguards are primarily responsible for the safety of the patrons utilizing the Lake Myosotis Beach facility including the enforcement of all beach rules, assisting any patron in need of help in the water or with first aid, surveying the beach area for hazards and managing unruly patrons if necessary. Lifeguards are expected to keep a daily beach log as well as fill out incident reports in case of an emergency or accident. Lake Myosotis is a privately run facility with pass holders so secondary responsibilities include signing in pass holders and ensuring the beach is clean for patron enjoyment. Our facility is a family centered environment so keeping a friendly and approachable atmosphere is important. Training, beach set up, and familiarization with Lake Myosotis will occur prior to the June 25 start date at a time TBD by the Aquatics Director and selected applicants.
