Ecological Explorations
Middle School
A program for middle school students to connect to nature through outdoor exploration and hands-on science

July 21-25; 9am-4pm

This program is full for 2025. We are now registering for the waitlist only.

About the program

Ecological Explorations provides the opportunity for middle school students to explore the Preserve's natural treasures and ecological concepts in an immersive, hands-on format. Students spend time hiking the Preserve's trails, exploring the ecosystems of the streams, lake, pond, and forests, problem solving, participating in group challenges and activities, and frequently end the day swimming at the lake.
How to Register
Please base enrollment on your child's grade during the 2025-2026 school year.
Register for the Waitlist
To register online: register online using our secure website and pay online.
To register by mail: download the application using the link here, or stop by the Preserve to obtain a printed copy of the registration form. Submit the completed packet by mail or drop it off at the Preserve.

Tuition

Huyck Preserve members: $250
Non-members: $320

Programs can be paid for by check or cash in person at the Preserve, or by credit or debit card online. To receive the member rate, please send checks by mail, stop by the Preserve, or call the office to pay by credit card over the phone.

Financial Assistance: Please contact the Preserve office at [email protected] for information on scholarships for families with a demonstrated need.

Registration is not complete until payment is received.
Classes are capped at nine students and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If classes fill, unpaid spots will be given to other children.
​​This class must have five students to run.

Payments are non-refundable unless the class is canceled due to under-enrollment.
