February 19th, 8AM Eldridge Research Center, 284 Pond Hill Road, Rensselaerville, NY 12147 Each year, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada host the Great Backyard Bird Count. In the spirit of celebrating birds everywhere, here at the Huyck Preserve we’re hosting a bird watching event led by Philippa Dunne. Come look and listen for birds at the Huyck Preserve and learn to identify the birds you observe with guidance from an experienced birder.
No bathrooms will be available; please plan accordingly.
Dress for the weather. Bringing along binoculars, a camera, and a notepad or phone to record observations is recommended for your enjoyment but is not necessary. Depending on conditions, snowshoes or crampons may be recommended. Contact the Preserve office for availability of snowshoes to borrow.
Registration is required; event capped at 15 people Suggested donation $5; Preserve members and children under 12 free
