Christmas Bird Count Results

1/22/2015

Our 4th Annual Christmas Bird Count this year was a big success - and a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out! We had almost 20 birders our counting our winter bird populations in the Hilltowns! This lead to some new records for our bird count circle for many common species. You can click here to download a PDF summary of our results.

Audubon uses Christmas bird count data in their annual State of the Birds reports, and releases some interesting information as they compile the results. Here's 7 surprises from the Christmas bird count data so far - one of which is a record number of eagles counter over at Montezuma national wildlife refuge in Western-central NY!

Like birds and want to help out? The Christmas bird count is a citizen science effort, so plan to join us for next year's count!
